This mandate objective was to design a falsework steel structure seating on temporary piles that supported a pile cap 4m extension formwork underwater. The structure had to resist significant gravity loads (self-weight, formwork & concrete) as well as important water pressures (buoyancy & lateral). The structure assemblies had to be designed to ease installation. It was then crucial to analyze all the load transmission with a structural model.

 

User benefits:

It was easy to integrate all the load cases on an area load. It was especially useful to simulate buoyancy by adding in an upward ratio weight load which calculated buoyancy for each structural member underwater.

Since AD 3D visualization is CAD based, it is an amazing time saving benefit to present the model directly to the site team for planning instead of having to draw a detailed CAD.

The bill of quantity report and IFC export was very useful to accelerate the pricing phase.
