Serre Cavalier Hospital

The aim of the project is to integrate with an existing building (The detached building “Églantier” which is a part of the “Serre Cavalier Hospital”) a link between the two wings of the second floor (first floor in the French denomination) and at the same time create a veranda as an extension of the reception hall, located on the first floor (Rez-de-chaussée or level 0 in the French denomination).

The footbridge (and the veranda) is made of a steel structure (beams and columns) placed on the existing building. The intermediate floor of the footbridge is made of a collaborative metal form-slabs and the upper floor is a waterproof steel deck roof. The facades are made of curtain wall and cladding.

The existing building is a concrete and masonry structure. The connections between the footbridge and the existing building are achieved with reinforced concrete supports.

User benefits:

  • Advance Design helped us to rapidity calculate the iterations of the project while we were modifying the support conditions and the steel profiles sections.
  • We could also quickly get the results of the support conditions in order to study the feasibility of the project version.
  • To size and optimize the steel profiles sections we’ve checked a lot the “strength” and “stability” ratio from the “Expert steel module”.
